A true Christian love is a selfless love. Because of the great love for us by the Heavenly Father, God let His Son, Jesus Christ, suffer crucifixion and die for our sake. That means, we should always do things that will be good for others and not think about ourselves. If we also selflessly love our spouse continuously there will be no divorce. It will not be a Christian love if we always think about ourselves. We solemnly promised to God that we will love our spouse for better or for worse. Therefore, if we could not love our spouse in a Christian way, how could we love others also? How can we be saved, if we fail to follow Jesus’ commandment.
It is very hard to selflessly love our spouse continuously, that is a given fact. Without Jesus, we can do nothing perfect. So the best and easiest way is, always ask Jesus this prayer “Lord, give me all necessary grace to love my spouse more that what he/she expects.” This prayer covers everything you need to love your spouse not only today, but the kind of love that continuously grow deeply everyday. This will make both of you happily ever after.
